Orange And Blue Diary Part One-Sports Talk With Anthony Bonelli And More

Journalists are taught to be objective no matter what the situation, that being said before I begin writing, I feel I must give my readers a disclaimer, nothing that I am about to write will be objective.

I was laying in bed last night trying to count how many times I have seen the New York Mets participate in the playoffs I was severely disappointed when I came up with FOUR TIMES including 2015, 1999, 2000, 2006, and 2015. I am so fired up about Friday night, Game 1 of the National League Division Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the NEW YORK METS. I am slightly disappointed the Mets do not have home field advantage which means Game 1, 2, and if necessary Game 5 will take place in Los Angeles, but as they say, beggars can’t be choosers.

Yes, Friday and Saturday night will be late nights for me, but as you can see from the list above, I along with other Mets’ fans have been waiting NINE YEARS for this moment, so to me it really does not matter what time the game starts, my eyes will be glued to my television.

My only regret as the Mets try and make a deep playoff run is that my grandfather, Ralph Bonelli is not here to witness this joyous occasion for all Mets’ fans. As I detailed in an earlier blog, Truly America’s Pastime, my grandfather loved the New York Mets, especially during the 1999 season. I know he along with my grandmother Rose will be wearing blue and orange on Friday. I also know that they will probably be asked to keep the noise down in heaven on Friday, as I will probably have to oblige by the same request in my home, out of respect for my personal assistant. Since the game time will be 9:45 PM, I must try and harness my excitement and save my voice since it will only be Game 1 of a best of five series.

This will be the first of many blogs my hope is that they will give you insight into how a diehard Mets’ fan is feeling throughout what I hope will be a deep run into October and actually conclude in November as that is when the World Series is scheduled to come to a close. So my final words in this blog are, LET’S GO METS!!!
